The Lost Hive

Chapter 2: Finding the Hive Ship

They were finally here, to the unknown planet in the great Pegasus Galaxy. Both John and Todd took deep breaths in the fresh air. All around them were huge stone mountains, great big green trees, a long snaking river on the right. Up above them were scattered clouds in the bright blue sky, with 2 suns shining above them.

    The weather was quite cool/warm right now. Rodney pulled a life signs detector out of his bulletproof vest and turned it on. “Got anything Rodney,” John looked at him. Rodney shook his head, “Not yet, but they might turn up soon if we see anything.”

    Todd started to sniff something in the air now. John and Rodney raised their eyebrows at him. “They’re this way,” He turned towards to the left.

    “Well, let’s find them before anything else comes for them now.” Rodney said. Todd led the way for them. It took them about 10-14 miles up a small stone path they’ve found. Todd stopped and sniffed some more, then he turned towards his right. “A few more miles to go now,” Rodney sighed heavily. They started walking again, until Todd stopped them. “Something’s wrong here, don’t know, but stay together if something comes out. They aimed their firearms up and Todd did the same with his small stun gun. A few minutes passed, but nothing happened.

    They continued to walk now, until a huge gape of rocks, dirt, and trees. “They crashed here,” Todd hissed. The stretch of ground up dirt wet in a straight line up to where it stopped at a pile of grown trees. They managed to jump down and walked over where the hive was.

    Todd stopped them and all of them looked up at the hive. The whole ship was massive enough, the size of five football fields. Rodney’s jaw dropped down, just looking at the massive crashed ship. Greens, blues, and purples just danced around in the sunlight. “Come on, there should be a hatch somewhere.”

    Without warning, Todd jumped up really high up to the ship. Rodney flinched up, by the cold woosh of Todd’s movement. John grabbed a rope from his bag and threw it up to where Todd was standing at the top of the ship. Todd grabbed the rope tightly as he could up top, and tied it somewhere now. John went up first, followed by Teyla, Rodney, and Ronon went last up the rope. As they got to the top, Todd pointed something out, “Through here now, this is an secret doorway to get in and out of the hives.”

    The ship sensed Todd’s presence and opened a large doorway for them to get into. All of them went in and turned on their flashlights to see in the quiet darkness of the silent hive ship. Todd sniffed through the cold and dark air. Nothing yet for them to find.

    “Come, the hibernation pods are over here,” Todd turned right and led them down a corridor with a dozen columns in the middle of it. John could feel something’s up with Todd here, but didn’t want to ask him about it at all.

    All five them stopped and looked around where the hibernation pods were. All above them were slumbering Wraiths, in their small pods not knowing what’s happening below them at all. “The commander’s pod is over here,” Todd started off without them and they ran after him now. There at the bottom was the commander’s  pod, with himself inside of it. His skin was an olive green, with his eyes closed. His long white hair snaked down past his big shoulders. His commander’s suite was the same color black as Todd’s was.

    “He’s alright here. Let’s wake him up and question him about what happened to the hive,” John said and then the pod started to open up now. “Um, did you guys touch something just now.” All three of them shook their heads no.

    A large, loud, and long hiss broke through the silence of the ship now. All five heads turned and saw the commander Wraith leap out and tackled John to the foggy floor. John could feel pure terror go through him, looking at the Wraith’s hungry yellow snake eyes.
